Welcome To...
McFarland Kansas

On behalf of Mayor Perry Piper, and the city council, we thank you for visiting our site. Our small bedroom community rests halfway between Manhattan and Topeka on I-70. It was founded in 1887 and was a major hub for the Rock Island Railroad.

We have all major utilities, a beautiful city park, friendly people and a quiet atmosphere.

Our town is a member of Pride and our Pride committee works in conjunction with the McFarland Activities Association to keep our community together and active. You can read all about our town history, services, activities, churches and businesses on our web site.

We are very proud of what we have accomplished in the last 30 years. We celebrated our Centennial with much success. We’ve paved all of our streets and made major improvements to our city utilities. We’ve renovated the old railroad depot after the Centennial Committee moved it to the north end of our city park. This facility is now used for our City Hall and Heritage Center and houses pictures and artifacts covering our town history and the Rock Island Railroad. Contact Alan Winkler at 765-3382 and he will be glad to give you a tour.

Please remember that we will always welcome comments or information concerning this site.

Thank you for taking the time to visit us.

Best regards,

Former Mayor Cliff Hund
